Makerere University has officially announced the call for applications for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations for the 2026/2027 academic year. The Office of the Academic Registrar invites Ugandan, East African, and international applicants who wish to join the university through this special entry program.
The Mature Age Entry Examinations will take place on Saturday, 13th December 2025, and all applications are to be submitted online. This entry scheme provides an opportunity for adults who may not have the traditional academic qualifications but possess the ability and readiness to pursue higher education.
To be eligible for the Mature Age Entry Examinations, applicants must be at least 25 years old before 15th August 2026. Detailed information and guidance can be obtained from the Undergraduate Mature Age Office, located on Level 5, Room 505, Senate Building, Makerere University. Applicants can also visit the official website at www.mak.ac.ug or see.mak.ac.ug for downloadable guidelines and updates.
The application process is entirely online through the Makerere University application portal at https://see.mak.ac.ug. Interested applicants are required to sign up using their full names, email address, and mobile number, ensuring that the name matches the one on their academic documents. In case of any name changes, a Deed Poll must be presented at Senate Building, Office 505.
After registration, a password will be sent to both the applicant’s email and mobile number. Once the application form is filled and submitted, the system will generate a Payment Reference Number (PRN), which should be used to pay the non-refundable application fee of UGX 210,000 for Ugandans and East African applicants, or $75 for international candidates, plus bank charges. Payments can be made at any bank used by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) or via mobile money using *165# or *185#.
Applicants are reminded to ensure that all sections of the application form are completed and that a tick mark appears for each completed section. The closing date for applications is Sunday, 30th November 2025.
The Office of the Academic Registrar cautions applicants not to buy any documents or materials from unauthorized sources, as Makerere University has not appointed any agents to sell forms, solicit funds, or offer coaching services for the Mature Age Entry Scheme.
On the examination day, candidates must present a colored printout of their invitation letter with a visible passport-size photograph. Photocopies will not be accepted.
Applicants are also advised to keep their login credentials safe, as they will be needed for future communication and verification by the University.
